DVM, DACVS-sa, MBA – Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon
My veterinary education was obtained at Michigan State University in 1999. I successfully completed an internal medicine internship and surgery residency at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. Upon completing my residency in July 2003, I accepted a full-time surgery position at VCA Northwood Hospital in Indiana. I became a diplomate of the American college of veterinary surgeons in 2005. In August 2008, I moved back to Michigan and began my Mobile Surgery Service as well as working at Veterinary Care Specialists in Milford, MI.
Prior to veterinary school, I attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, where I obtained a degree in finance and economics, after which I completed my Masters of Business Administration. I was employed by the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies from 1989 through 1995.
WHAT IS A DIPLOMATE OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF VETERINARY SURGEONS?
A Diplomate refers to a veterinarian who has been board certified in veterinary surgery. Only veterinarians who have successfully completed the certification requirements of the ACVS are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and have earned the right to be called specialists in veterinary surgery.
Veterinarians wishing to become board certified must complete a three-year residency program, meet specific training and caseload requirements, perform research, and have their research published. This process is supervised by current ACVS Diplomates, ensuring consistency in training and adherence to high standards. Once the residency is completed, the resident must sit for and pass a rigorous examination. Only then does the veterinarian earn the title of ACVS

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ME?
Veterinary medicine is a second career for me. I truly feel blessed to have found a profession that I love. My goal is to develop a strong relationship with veterinarians referring cases as well as veterinarians that have me perform surgeries in their clinics. My promise is always to do my best for you and your client. In the end, the most important goal is a successful surgical outcome. I’ll be there to help you achieve this end.
Amber Menser
Assistant and Surgery Nurse
Amber Menser is a surgical assistant. She has three years of experience in emergency veterinary medicine. She is currently in school to become an LVT and plans to continue working towards a VTS certification. Amber is always eager to continue learning and gaining new skills within veterinary medicine. Her hobbies include camping, kayaking, and being outdoors. She spends her free time with her husband, three kids, four dogs, and one cat.
